The first painting was done in Cobra oil (my first experience with that medium), the second in acrylic. A fun experiment. Which do you prefer?

This one was a challenge for the camera. The drapes are actually more tangerine, but I didn’t want to manipulate the image, so here it is.
Between 2005 and 2006 while living in Amsterdam I created a number of surrealistic, automatic drawings. After a morning of painting I would retreat to the apartment’s cupola or rooftop terrace for an hour or two of automatic drawing.
All were created on Arches, 140 lb, hot-pressed 100% cotton paper (a perfectly gorgeous, smooth paper) with Pigma Micron pens. I never had an idea as to subject or composition. These drawings were all made directly with ink on the paper. I no doubt was channeling the energy from the Red Light District in the street below.
These drawings which have been tucked away in archival portfolios for 10 years due to my penchant for moving are once again seeing the light of day. As I continue to add color to the images I will present them here.
